The Winchester Rescue Mission in Winchester, VA has been opening its doors to the citizens of Winchester since 1973, with a stated mission to transform lives by providing shelter, supportive services, and advocacy to improve and enhance the lives of the poor, powerless and persecuted, to reach their full potential through Christ.
Sarah Flanagan, Office Manager at Darkblade Systems, recently participated in painting a mural created by Sarah Gallahan Art on the shelter’s walls that depicts several acts of kindness that are provided by the shelter. “It was such a privilege to be involved in this project and to see the Winchester community come together to support the Mission and give this building and community fresh, new life. The most rewarding part was to see the residents coming back in the evening with big smiles on their faces. The light in their eyes when they saw the transformation was so beautiful”, Sarah said.
The mission is always in need of volunteers to help with case management, civic outreach, cooking and serving in the kitchen, and help with community events and fundraising activities. They are also in need of monthly monetary sponsorships. To get connected, view a critical needs list or to give online, more information can be found at http://www.winrescue.org/
